When Anoop Chopra opened Taj Indian Cuisine in the summer of 1986 in Canada, it was a dream come true, an expression of a lifelong passion for cooking. By offering an exciting selection of items on the menu and the highest quality expertise along with a visually inspiring environment, the small and cozy Taj quickly became central to local gastronomes.
Wanting to escape the harsh Canadian winters, five years later he set his sight on Tampa, Florida by way of lateral transfer and opened a second location. For 11 years he worked his business with care and excitement by wanting to share his love for cooking and help his customers discover the joy of experimenting food at it’s best. Wanting to reconnect with family and friends in 2001 he sold Taj and returned to Ottawa, Ontario.
Encouraged by close ones he opened his third restaurant. With a successful business striving once and after much deliberation he decided that he was done with winter life for good once again. He sold the business and resettled for a fourth time, here in Deerfield Beach in 2004. Eleven years later you can hear him say…”Warmth and sunlight are amazing motivators — life is great!
